CHANGING IDEAS OF BEAUTY IN TODAY’S ART
Andy Warhol once said, “Beauty is a sign of intelligence.”
What’s your idea of beauty, and has it changed?
This illustrated talk invites you to see beauty as a shifting field of possibilities, far more than skin-deep. Art writer and tour guide Betty Ann Jordan explores changing ideas of beauty as revealed in contemporary art images of landscape and the body, featuring works by Artist Project 2009 artists. Moving deeper into the realm of appearances, we’ll examine representations of the body and landscapes, including seascapes, cityscapes, mental landscapes. Have environmental, societal and gender-related concerns altered the face of beauty, upping its emotional quotient as well as its IQ?
